How It Works When You’re 17
You can begin theory lessons three months before your 17th birthday
- You are eligible to take both the theory and practical tests as a 17-year-old
- Once you’ve passed, you may drive—but only with a qualified companion until you turn 18
- Requirements for the companion:
- Minimum 30 years old
- Held a Category B license for 10 years
- Must have no driving bans
